Ditmas Park Native garden
Our mission was to create a beautiful backyard with areas for hosting dinner parties and sitting around the fire, and we saw an opportunity to turn this lawn into a native garden rich in sustenance for the local wildlife.
Every backyard has its unique characteristics that influence the direction we take:: In this case, it was a couple of massive Norway maple trees with canopies that provided dense shade for half of the backyard, leaving the other half in full sun.
With this in mind, we sought to capture that moment when a wooded forest transitions to an open meadow—the Woodland’s Edge.
This concept allowed us to bring in native flowering shrubs that produce bright, blue berries for birds, and to use sweeping perennials with blended hues of pinks, purples, and greens, blooming throughout the year.
We are grateful to our amazing clients Sara and Dan for trusting us. We’re happy to hear they are always discovering something new as the seasons change.

“We hired Adam and Jarema for a complete overhaul of our backyard in Brooklyn. From beginning to end, they were a pleasure to work with. No green thumbs here and they were able to coax out our vision, they had terrific, creative ideas, and they brought delightful positive energy to their work. We now have a gorgeous backyard, with sophisticated hardscaping and beautiful, unique native plants that surprise us each day of the year as they bloom and evolve. Every time we have guests over, they ask who handled this project. The secret is out!” -CLIENT
